British Superbikes Championship - Rutter ready to go
Kingswindford's Michael Rutter is counting off the days to the start of the new British Superbikes Championship and the chance to put two years of utter frustration behind him.
Rutter, aged 34, will launch his season in the opening round at Brands Hatch on Bank Holiday Monday(April 9).
The last two seasons are effectively best forgotten for Rutter who saw his hopes of winning the title for the first time dashed in 2005 before trailing in seventh in the championships last year.
Rutter, who will be making a return to the Isle of Man TT this year, said: "It's another new season and a new start for me.
"Things have been frustrating for me over the last couple of seasons as I was on course to win in 2005 before I ran into some injury problems.
"Last year I was struggling to get into contention and I just hope things will be better for me this season.
"I am still excited by the challenge of the British Superbikes and there is also a new challenge this season as I will be riding a Kawasaki."
Rutter is in his third team in the space of three years having left HM Plant Honda in 2005 to join Stobart Honda last year.
Now he will be riding for the up and coming MSS Discovery team.
With Rutter one of the most experienced riders around, theMSS team are leaning heavily on him to make sure they mount a credible challenge this year.
Rutter is now hoping all his knowledge pays off adding: "I just can't wait for the season to start. I'm in a good team although it's going to be difficult for the first few rounds.
"But hopefully we can achieve some half decent results.
"It's really, really exciting to be in a new team and now we are just waiting to get out there and race."
